uWare is taking the aerial drone revolution underwater to protect our oceans and secure our future.

uWare Robotics is a European startup specialising in Robotics and AI solutions to gather, process and analyse underwater data in a more cost-effective, easy-to-use and safer manner.

We currently use our highly mobile AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) to collect your underwater data and then provide services to deliver you the required results from 2D and 3D maps to automated visual analysis. Our technology is particularly relevant for the management of, and operation in coastal zones, which contain ecosystems such as Seagrass Meadows and Coral Reefs. All of which are vital to the health of our planet and the Blue Economy.

To set the standard for underwater monitoring and inspection, we are working in collaboration with research institutes and Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). We will soon be offering our services to other sectors that operate within the Blue Economy, such as Blue Carbon, Mariculture, Waste Management and Clean Energy operations.

Planblue was founded in 2017 by two former marine scientists and two engineers to enable high-quality seafloor mapping, inspired by satellite technology. Based in Bremen, Germany, the company now has over 20 employees located all over Europe. Funded partially through the ESA BIC program, an EIC grant, and Climate-KIC, planblue has completed campaigns around the globe, all with the express goal to highlight the ecologic and economic importance of the seafloor.

At planblue, we strive to combine scientific rigor and ground-breaking technological advances to revolutionize seafloor monitoring for the 21st century. Currently, as a first step, we are focusing on developing a methodology to accurately estimate the carbon stock of seagrass meadows, in order to introduce much needed transparency into the emerging blue carbon market.

Emerging from its predecessor established in 2016, I-AM Innovation Center B.V. has matured into a respected participant in the ocean and water sectors. We’ve been successful in fostering fruitful partnerships with a multitude of enterprises ranging from small startups to established companies. In 2022, a significant milestone was reached as we unveiled our own products and services. These offerings marked our transition from solely a technology provider to a solutions provider. Our most prominent service introduced in 2023 targets water quality improvement, designed to mitigate the prevalence of blue-green algae in freshwater bodies and restore overall water quality.

Recognizing the increasing demand for seaweed, driven by its diverse applications ranging from food and cosmetics to industrial materials, we’ve been actively engaged in the development of technology to support the burgeoning seaweed cultivation industry. This engagement aligns with the broader trend of smart farming, where the goal is to make agriculture more efficient, sustainable, and less labor-intensive through the application of advanced technologies.

Currently, our focus is on the ‘UTOPIA’ project, an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming offshore farming. By developing a framework that supports autonomous vessels and smart sensors, we offer seaweed farmers a new level of inspection accessibility and data integration. Our technology allows more frequent and diverse weather condition inspections, without the need for crewed offshore visits, while also incorporating various information sources into a comprehensive, user-friendly framework.
